Collective Grief, Intuition Tip & Falling Back In Love With Tarot

Last week, my daughter and I went to a book talk by a famous author who happens to live in town and during the Q & A she was asked "How do you continue to tend to your "creative artistic self" when the world is in so much grief, upheaval and trauma?"

The author missed a beautiful opportunity to address a really important topic, one that I have been asked many times in my Soul Sessions with clients (and one that I often grapple with myself).

The author simply said "I just do it anyway". I felt this answer missed a brilliant opportunity to address our communal and individual grief, how and why it is important that we continue to move forward during these times and all of the complex feelings that flood in during times of imbalance and distress (feeling overwhelmed, hopeless, helpless, etc.).

I would have said, "It is so hard to carry on during intense times of active grief. It can feel disrespectful if we don't join in on the pain or at least feel into the suffering in some way."

I would have then suggested, "Honor the situation in the way that makes most sense to you (contributing, helping, praying, etc) and then remind yourself that you cannot help others out of the foxhole if you are down in it with them. The biggest contribution you can give to humankind is to stay in the frequency of hope/love for that is what will most help others. It is NOT selfish to continue to carry on with what you love, with what sparks your creativity. Matter of fact, it is imperative.”

Heart-Centered Intuition Tip

TRY THIS:

This hack is not new, it is not earth-shattering, but it works.

When you're feeling sad, overwhelmed, or burdened by the world's pain, place your hand on your heart. Take a few slow, deep breaths. As you breathe, imagine drawing energy and strength from the earth up through your feet, grounding you and providing stability. Then, visualize a white, soothing light emanating from your heart, extending outwards, first encompassing you, then extending out to those you care about, and finally, reaching out to the world.

WHY IT WORKS:

This quick hack combines physical grounding with heart-centered visualization. Grounding helps you feel more present and stable, while focusing on your heart center promotes self-compassion and expands your capacity for empathy without becoming overwhelmed. It acknowledges the pain but also offers a sense of connection and hope.

This week I am inspired by the Tarot!

I have studied the Tarot for years, but it wasn't until recently that I felt a deeper sense of connection to the cards (shout out to soul buddy Angela who through a Zoom catch up call shared her renewed Tarot excitement!).

In the past, I have focused primarily on the Major Arcana, the big Universal Soul Lesson cards. But this time around, I decided to dig deep with the Minor Arcana which share more day to day lessons, struggles, victories, etc. In studying the 1-10 cards of the suits of Pentacles, Wands, Swords and Cups I've learned their connection to the elements, numerology, symbolism, colors and so much more!

I even discovered that the word Arcana means "secrets" so I'm learning 78 very complex secrets! I find myself thinking of the cards when I'm out walking the dogs or doing the dishes and I'm LOVING applying the cards to my everyday experiences.

Until next time, I hope you explore what lights you up!
