Tips To Reconnect To Your Intuition ✳︎ Especially During Midwinter
This week I've been marinating in the thought and energy of "to each their own".
I work with a lovely human who contacted me because she was excited to reconnect with her intuition as she missed the deep insights, powerful knowing and clear guidance she used to receive in her earlier years. We've had an exciting shared experience exploring ways for her to get back in touch with her intuition and honoring the ways that she receives her intuitive guidance NOW.
During our most recent session she came to understand that she was anticipating her connection to her intuition to look the way it used to when she was younger. But she surprised herself when she came to understand that the way she gets intuitive messages now is different, and just as powerful!
This understanding was an important reminder: as we grow and evolve, we change (obviously), but that also includes how we connect and receive our intuitive guidance.
Be open. Be flexible. And be available for how your intuition nudges you in this season of your life.
My mentor Sonia Choquette used to say, "Be open to being surprised...especially by yourself!"
In my early 30's I met with a professional psychic on the phone, in what came to be the conversation that changed my life. Within the first 5 minutes of our call, she stated that the reason I was calling her was because I could do what she could do.
Every part of me felt validated and thrilled by this acknowledgement as I had always been drawn to all things metaphysical, and sensed that I was tapping into something greater than my brain during my therapy sessions with clients.
It was during this call that she not only validated my gifts and skills but also explained that I would not need to use "tools" to assist me in my psychic/intuitive readings. That I would simply "tune in" for the information and intuitive guidance.
I loved knowing that I was already fully equipped and didn't need Tarot Cards or Astro Charts or anything other than me.
When you’re in a rut, turn to your tools.
Over the years, I discovered that working with Oracle Cards and Tarot Cards and books and podcasts are really helpful when I am feeling disconnected from my personal magic, my intuition. They serve to inspire, to remind and to help me get back into my higher frequency and flow.
So, if you are feeling distant from the magic, disconnected from your intuitive guidance or simply just weary, reach for something "material" that reminds you there is so much more to tap into within you.
That's what the "tools" are for anyway. To support our own intuitive knowing.
I find myself reaching for the Spirit Animal Oracle Deck when I need a little boost. I love the drawings on the cards, the messages in the booklet...it all feels good.
Your intuition speaks through music, literature, poetry, and art.
This week I've been inspired by the Bob Dylan movie A Complete Unknown. I was not a particularly big Dylan fan, but this movie struck a chord (pun intended :).
I've been thinking about people as creative vessels. People who are here to expand the edges of what is and to bring forth their gifts.
I particularly loved the scene where he ran into his apartment and grabbed his guitar so as not to miss the lyrics and chords that were being channeled through him in that moment.
Liz Gilbert writes about this exact phenomena in her book Big Magic, where she shares the story of someone running at full speed across a field to get back to their notebook so they could record the story ideas that were flowing through them. Knowing that if they didn't catch them in that moment, they may be gone.
I often feel those moments of flow when I'm sitting with clients. Where the channel is clear and unobstructed and the information that is coming through is healing and helpful.
We all have access to this creative, intuitive channel.
For each of us it will look differently. For me it's the information I deliver to clients. For Bob it was the message in his music. For Liz it is expressed through her writing.
How do you receive your intuitive, creative information? Can you sense when it's coming through you?
Lean into the cycles of nature.
In my experience, mid-winter is when I find myself looking for ways to increase my intuitive connection, feed the sparkle of life that keeps my vibration high and to move in a flow that feels honoring of the season and yet supportive of me in the work I need to do. I filmed the YouTube video below a year ago, but it feels relevant today as we discuss motivation and inner connection.
Do you have an intuition story you’d love to share?
I am in the beginning stages of writing a book composed of short stories of intuition from everyday people and everyday life.
I would LOVE to hear your intuition story. It can be short, simple and have had little impact on your overall life or maybe it was big, powerful and rocked your world!
I want to hear them all!
PLEASE hit reply to this email and tell me about a time when either listening (or NOT listening) to your intuition was impactful for you in some way.
THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!!!
