What IS a Soul Session?
A deep dive Q&A with an actual Soul Session recipient
If you’ve ever felt pulled toward an intuitive session but wondered, “Okay… but what actually happens in there?” this Q&A is for you.
Inside a Soul Session
A Soul Session is a confidential, 60-minute space where I listen to the energy beneath your words, connect with guidance from my spirit guides and yours, and follow what needs to be seen in the moment. We’ll explore what feels unclear, unsettled, or ready for attention, and I’ll help illuminate what’s been blocking clarity, along with what’s trying to emerge.
Sometimes that looks like direct messages and symbols from your guides. Sometimes it’s insight about relationships, patterns you’re ready to release, or a future path that’s already unfolding. Often, it’s all of the above, plus a grounded next step so you leave feeling clearer, lighter, and more connected to your own inner wisdom.
There’s no “right” way to show up, and you don’t need to have your questions perfectly packaged. Just arrive as you are, and we’ll meet what’s here together.
To paint a clearer picture of what a Soul Session can feel like from the inside, I sat down with a recent Soul Session recipient named Julie who generously offered to share her experience, in her own words.
Martha: What brought you to book a Soul Session, and what were you hoping to get out of it?
Julie: When I met you—which happened to be at an in-person event—I was immediately drawn to you. You said “intuition” within the first couple sentences, and that really landed because intuition had been “in the background” for me for years.
I used to question whether it was real, but I’d had enough experiences that felt undeniable. Your Soul Session offering aligned with where I was in life, and the idea that you have direct access to your spirit guides, and could potentially work with mine, felt like something beyond even a really great therapeutic session.
Martha: Had you ever done any intuitive readings before?
Julie: Not really in a meaningful way. In my 20s I went to palm readers and psychics, but most of it didn’t feel legitimate, which probably added to my skepticism. More recently, I’d had some clairaudient-type experiences, so I wasn’t coming in as a total non-believer. It was more like: I’ve met someone who’s honed this ability and I want to experience it.
“You guided me through what felt like an inner journey. It was visual for me, with colors and scenery, and when you asked what I saw, I could answer instantly.”
Martha: What was the session actually like for you?
Julie: It’s honestly hard to describe because so much of it felt sensory. I felt safe with you immediately. It started with me asking questions, but then it became your guides asking me questions, and I found myself answering from a deeper place, not from my head.
Martha: You mentioned a physical component. Can you share more about that?
Julie: Yes. I remember saying, “Something strange is happening.” I felt what I can only describe as an electric current starting at my toes and moving up my legs. Then it shifted, and at one point it felt cold, like it was moving through my whole body. You kept checking in to make sure I felt okay, and I did. It wasn’t scary. I felt like I was observing it in a calm, safe way.
Martha: How would you describe what makes a Soul Session more than “a great conversation”?
Julie: It didn’t feel like you and I talking on the surface. It felt like there was energy involved, and that I was tapping into something in myself. You guided me through what felt like an inner journey. It was visual for me, with colors and scenery, and when you asked what I saw, I could answer instantly.
Martha: How did you know you weren’t just “making it up”?
Julie: I have a strong imagination. I’m a songwriter and I spend a lot of time in my imagination, but this felt different. I can’t give you a research book to “prove” it, but I knew I was on a real inner journey, and you were right there guiding me through it.
Martha: Was there a moment in the session that really stayed with you?
Julie: Yes. I’d been talking about my past as a songwriter and recording artist, and how things didn’t go the way I imagined. Then, without me saying it, you said you kept getting “producer.” I started laughing because I hadn’t told you I was about to produce a podcast and was about to start a producer mentorship for music. That hit as real validation, especially because we all have a million thoughts a day and don’t always know what to trust.
Martha: What was it like having spirit guides involved in the session?
Julie: That’s a huge differentiator. It wasn’t “a great conversation with my friend Martha.” There was a difference in who I was interacting with in that session, and I could feel it. I also felt like I’m still getting to know my own guides, but their presence wasn’t scary. It felt safe.
“For me, the Soul Session felt like a powerful complement to therapy. Your background as a licensed therapist also gave me trust going in because you know how to hold a safe container.”
Martha: In what ways did the session help you feel more seen, known, or connected to yourself?
Julie: My emotions were right at the surface, and when they came up, I let them come. That made me feel very connected to myself. The way I described it was that it felt cleansing, like my eyes were “raining,” not like I was getting taken down by emotion. I actually compared it to a plant medicine journey I did a few years ago because the connection to self felt similar.
Martha: Have you noticed any shifts since the Soul Session?
Julie: Yes, my meditation practice has gone deeper more easily, and I’ve had more profound experiences. And on a bigger level, I’m at a midpoint where I’ve been gravitating toward producing opportunities, and that “producer” message has been something I hold onto in those quiet moments of doubt, when the practical side of me starts questioning risk.
Martha: How would you describe the difference between a Soul Session and therapy?
Julie: I’ve been in psychotherapy for 25 years and it’s been incredibly valuable. A Soul Session isn’t therapy, and it’s not something I’d want my therapist to try to replicate. But I felt like in one hour with you, I had so many insights and realizations. For me, it felt like a powerful complement to therapy. Your background as a licensed therapist also gave me trust going in because you know how to hold a safe container.
Martha: What would you say to someone who’s curious, but hesitant to book?
Julie: First, you set the stage really well ahead of time, which helps. I also think it’s less about someone taking my word for it, and more about having a mix of curiosity and belief, plus a sense that something in life isn’t moving with the usual supports. What I can say from my experience is: you’re going to be well taken care of, you’re going to feel safe, you don’t have to talk about anything you don’t want to, and you can come in open.
